2827 Meeting Minutes
11-19-14
Present: Jonathan, Michael, Ryan, Ryean, Emma, Chris, and Grant
Minutes by Emma
2:38 start time
(This is our first team meeting after the scrimmage in which we placed 9th out of 12 teams. It is about eight weeks until our next competition.)
pre-match checklist (we had Samantha related problems as well as a low battery part of the time at the match that impaired our ability to perform to our full potential)
-battery tester
-Samantha (test @ school)
-batteries
-packing list
General things that need to be addressed:
robot -> hardware -> collection method (includes belt, ball depositing [the back plate was poorly done])
-> within the lift we need to work on string type and moving to a different string method (we have multiple strings right now)
anchors on lift need to be moved so the basket can be high enough to score in the center field goal
we may want to switch the string we are using right now.
-> drive train -> reliability -> skidding when going up ramp (switch to a four motor drive train? right now we have two)
-> tube grabbing so it is easier to score
should we add a mechanism to clamp onto the tube?
->software
-add an IR sensor to the robot so we can score on the top bucket in autonomous
-maybe get a recorded autonomous for the lifts?
-making a robot that drives straight with a gyroscope
-should we add other sensors onto the robot?
Topics to write about in the notebook:
Jonathan and Grant still needs to write their bios
Code
Uploading old minutes
FLL
Donut fundraiser and grant
Scrimmage
3D printing
Lift, chassis, etc.
Other notes
Figure out what parts we need so Coach Helms can order them
Chris Wu had an article published in an a magazine about robots (outreach).
Should the team still do a winterim class based on robotics?
Side panels and name signs for the robot should be worked on.
